Civil Litigation

"Civil litigation is anything but civil" - Ret. Judge Michael Orfield, 2008

I.  What is Civil Litigation?

Many people hear the term but don't know what it means.  The problem is that it is such a broad category and encompasses so much that it doesn't refer to any specific area of the law.

Civil litigation refers to all cases and causes of action that arise under California Civil Law, Bankruptcy Law, and/or Federal Law but not California Criminal Law.

The primary sources for California Civil Law are the Code of Civil Procedure, Civil Code, and Business & Professions Code to name a few.

Civil litigation cases generally concern some dispute about an amount of money and/or property whereby the Plaintiff sues the Defendant alleging that they caused them financial, physical, and/or emotional harm.  There are several types of civil disputes that can arise between people and companies that are not criminal in nature.

Technically speaking foreclosure cases, unlawful detainers, and family law are all specific types of Civil Litigation.

II.  How our Firm is Different?

We are well versed in handling a wide variety of civil disputes including collections actions, appeals, limited/unlimited civil cases, writs, negligence and malpractice actions, breach of contract claims, and personal injury suits as well.  We are fully insured and have spent 100's of hours in court prosecuting and defending claims.

We do not bill hourly and do not believe in open-ended hourly fee agreements.  We offer flat fee pricing based on our expertise.

Many civil litigation firms charge two or three times as much per hour to deliver a fraction of what we offer our litigation clients.  Many of our clients have been over-billed at their former attorneys office, only to see their retainer deposit gone within a matter of weeks before leaving them without representation.
